The Artwork of the Cayce Riverwalk

The Cayce Riverwalk in South Carolina features 12 miles of paved pathways and wooden boardwalks. It is also part of the Three Rivers Greenway.
If you pay attention, you can spot hand carvings by artist Wade Geddings.
What is wonderful about these pieces is that they were all carved into downed trees or stumps left from downed trees.
So nature was not harmed in creating these whimsical piece for the public to enjoy.
Many of the trees were ones that fell during the historic flooding here in 2015.
There are 11 here but apparently there are 12 total. So we still have some searching to do!
A brilliant use of fallen trees.
This little guy below seems to have experienced some decay but is still adorable. They can end up under water during times of flooding.
Another piece of art along this walk is a wrought lion bench by John and Venetia Sharpe.
I hope you enjoyed this stroll.

Thank you for stopping by! ~Val

  7. This is so clever and such a good idea. I enjoyed seeing all the critters in the wood. We have so many felled trees because of bark beetle around our lake. They have to stay on the ground covered in a heavy duty plastic after they are cut down so the bark beetle that's on them can die out. It would be much nicer seeing carved trees lying about than the plastic covered trees.
