Why is Columbia called Soda City?
The story goes that Cola is the city's nickname. Over time this evolved into Soda City instead of Cola City.
It has fun food trucks. Food vendors here are required to make it or grow it. Over 12 nationalities are represented for variety.
Local crafters show their goodies.
It is super crowded on a beautiful day where parts of it you can't stop walking or you will get trampled over.
There is live music and beer because who doesn't want loud music and a brewski in the morning?
I imagine the university students enjoy coming here for hangover food.
It is a great place for well behaved canines of all sizes to get attention.
It is the south so there has to be a smoker somewhere. How creative is this bus contraption?
It is an experience.
The longest line goes to this vendor, Venezuela in 1 Bite.I have to do some research on Venezuelan food before giving it a try. Considering the line I am certain it is delicious!
Well I hope you enjoyed this walk through the Soda City Market.
If you are near and want to check it out, this sets up between 1300 - 1500 Main Street. Much larger than we expected! This market averages 150 vendors each week.
Thank you for stopping by! ~Val
that looks fun! I love to wander through a market like this
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I love outdoor markets! Looks like there are some wonderful crafters at yours.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of makes me jealous at the moment to see how beautiful and probably warm it is there - ...Soda City is a cool name and of course I would have a brewski in the morning if I was walking around there. Loved the photos. I need to google Colombia and see how close u are to Hilton Head/or bluffton where my friend lives.
ReplyDeleteso....google says u are about 2 hours away!
ReplyDeleteWe chose the Columbia area for the climate and affordability. There is a snow/ice storm going one now where we used to live. So happy about the move! We also love that we are 2 hours from the coast and 2 hours from the mountains. We have not been to Hilton Head yet but someday I would like to spend a night there. Savannah is close too.
DeleteThat drive sounds do-able in a day and spending the night would give you more like 2 days there I've seen photos and Hilton Head looks really nice. Nice that you are happy about the move - climate is a real important factor for me anymore so if I did move it woud probably be central california on up to Northern Ca or Oregon - especially Bend. I've been there and it's beautiful.
DeleteI would love to visit OR or northern CA. They look so beautiful when I see those areas on tv.
Deletesuch an interesting place to visit.
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend
This looks like such fun! Maybe you should take a stand there? Interesting history behind the name.
