We opted for a self guided tour.
The first state house of South Carolina was in the coastal town of Charleston but later moved to Columbia due to the central location of the city within the state.
The gorgeous building was constructed between 1855 to 1907.
It is filled with marvelous details.
The House meets in one end of the building.
The Senate in the other end.
The Governor's office is here as well.
Of course I tend to be most intrigued by the architectural elements here.
The views are stunning looking up or down.
If you go, the State House is located at 1100 Gervais St in Columbia, SC. Please click here for tour times.
I hope you enjoyed this inside glimpse of the State House.
Thank you for stopping by! ~Val
