Asheville, North Carolina is a must to visit for beer lovers.
We only spent a day here but still managed to try a bunch of local brews. Distilleries are here too if that is your thing.
Starting with the South Slope section of the city, we sampled a variety of flights.
The street art is quite awesome here.
It seemed there are places to stop in on every corner.
I really appreciated the water (or beer minus barley, hops and yeast) made easily available in the breweries.
The most unique beer I tried was the Coolcumber from Wicked Weed Brewing. This tasty one is a golden ale with cucumbers, basil and juniper berries.
We tasted many others and both really enjoyed Rocket Girl from Asheville Brewing. This crisp beer is brewed with kolsch yeast to give it the character of both an ale and a lager.
We also loved White Zombie from Catawba Brewing Company made with unmalted wheat to create a light body and white sheen. Yes, we prefer the lighter brewskies!
It is fun seeing the old buildings converted into cool spaces to enjoy.
Above is an amazing piece of artwork by Dustin Spagnola on a dilapidated building. With Asheville being his home town, there is plenty of his work around to marvel at.
I would recommend a flight at as many breweries as one can handle. There are brews for all taste buds here.
Having a drink on one of the rooftop bars was a must for us to enjoy the mountains! These photos were taken from Capella on 9.
The building off the the right below was our hotel.
Here is the sky we got to enjoy from our hotel room after the sun went down.
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse of an Asheville experience.
Thank you for stopping by! ~Val
