A Riverfront Park Stroll

The Riverfront Park in Columbia, SC is a favorite spot for my husband and I to walk.
We enjoyed it again on a recent calm, October morning.
The water is usually much higher here so the landscape was different from what we are used to.
There are always wild flowers to marvel at.
Being 4 miles in length, we get great exercise walking down and back. We have yet to walk the entire length, but maybe someday we will surprise ourselves.

Every shade of green to be in awe of.

Along with one of my favorite things, Spanish moss.

This time was a treat with the lower trail being open.
It had been closed every other time we have been here due to the river.
Since the Broad, Saluda and Congaree Rivers join here, the water can become quite wild making the trail dangerous. The summer was extremely dry and hurricane season has not had an effect on the area this year.

There is a little bit of a thrill walking under the bridges.
I love how they form a frame for the river.

The crepe myrtles are still trying to keep their flowers.
It is always a great, free place to come that is full of life with nature, people and their canine friends.

I hope you enjoyed our fall walk!

Thank you for stopping by. ~Val

  1. Great spot for a walk, Val. Sometimes it seems that every town, with even the hint of a creek going through it, has a Riverfront or Riverside Park. And thank goodness for that.

    1. It is such a perfect place to walk! It had been a while for us with the heat of summer. I don't know how some people can walk this trail in the summer sun!
