A Yard Update and a Turquoise Eyeglass Chain

Eyeglass Chain
This turquoise magnesite is always a summer favorite with customers. Magnesite is a combination of carbonate and magnesite that takes dyes very well. The eyeglass chain is available in my Etsy shop (also with gold accents).

The Yard
The chipmunk is continuing to entertain us.

I grabbed my camera take a picture of mommy and baby feasting on the grass and didn't realize that little rascal made his way into bottom left of the frame too!
The lilies bloomed beautifully.

This is the yard bully. A bluejay. I never knew bluejays had a nasty demeanor!
Forgive my grainy photos. My camera is nothing fancy but does take good jewelry photos!
He bullies all the other birds away. Even the larger blackbirds!
He is so mean, but still beautiful.
His bulliness is why there are no other birds munching on the bread!
Feeding the birds has become almost a daily thing. They LOVE bread and popcorn! I'm learning more and more of which bird is which and the sounds they make. A great pastime!

It does feel like self employment has made me a little lazy. But I tell myself I have worked my butt off my entire adulthood and it is now time to enjoy the simple things in life. Maybe I'll become a workaholic again in the future, but for now I'm enjoying life and the beautiful weather!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great week. ~Val

  4. What great photos from your yard. Those little chipmunks are quite bold aren't they? We have one that loves to torment Bubba by getting up on the deck while he is laying by the window. I see you are making the bluejay happy.

Also love the eyeglass chain. I really don't think turquoise will every go out of style. It has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. It's fun!

Working from home is different and I'm still trying to get used to it. I'm just now learning how to create balance. For the first five months I'd be all over the place with it. I'd spend a week being "lazy" then the next week I'd hit it so hard that my every waking moment was in the studio, mainly from guilt from the week before. Now I like to take week chunks and plan them out. On Sunday night, I sit at the computer and do two important things. First, I go over to paypal and transfer the funds that I made for that week. That makes me feel like I got a real paycheck, which I actually did. Then I plan my week. I look at my monthly goals and choose what WILL be accomplished that week and I put it onto my "weekly" list. I use that list to plan my individual days. I don't set days to those items yet, I do that the night before I make my daily to do list. As long as I accomplish the items on the weekly list before the week ends. I'm thrilled with my success! I'm also finding that by organizing my time like this, I'm finding "time off" that I don't have to feel guilty about!

I noticed that I've written you a book!

Those little chipmunks are just precious. We have 2 families of chipmunks, and oh my goodness, can they eat a lot of food!!!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

  6. very pretty lanyard this week Val! and see you've got bunnies in the yard - as do we! We were at a friends last night and the bunny didn't seem bothered in the slightest by all the guest and just went about his business of munching grass. Very tame little guy!

  7. Oooh, the turquoise is beautiful!

The furry and winged creatures are a joy to watch. Very relaxing to take it all in. How did the weather go for you this weekend? Still good?

  8. I love turquoise! It reminds me of my favorite season - summer :) Just wish it wouldn't rain so much here..
The baby chipmunk is adorable! We have plenty of birds here, and it's the magpies that are most aggressive, although there is enough food out for everyone! What I like about being self-employed is that I set the rules, but I am actually working MORE :) have a great week!

  9. what cute "pets", and bluejays are notorious for being mean. when I was a kid there was one that would bomb me every day when I walked home from the bus stop. I hated that thing. lol
