Another Section of the Three Rivers Greenway

This is the newest section of the Three Rivers Greenway in the Columbia, SC area.
It features this fantastic boardwalk along the Saluda River.
Besides the boardwalk, the rapids seem to be the star here with its invigorating sound.
Yes there is a fly fisher out there by the old broken dam.
This section is technically not open to the public yet but many local rebels like us were out there enjoying it on a sunny winter day.
Other parts of this walk are calming like this gigantic smooth river rock that walkers can stroll out on.

The Spanish moss is abundant here.
Saw palmettos greeted us with their perkiness.
This beautiful piece of commissioned street art is seen from the walk.
We walked under the bridge that we have strolled many times since it connects the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
We also caught a closer view of Civil War ruins. Below are the remains of an old bridge connecting West Columbia and Columbia. The Confederate troops destroyed it so the Union troops could not cross. The Union soldiers crossed anyway by building their own bridge.
This rock formation made me think of a dolphin although after uploading it I am think a baby humpback whale.
I suspect this section is going to be very popular when it opens in the spring. There is a parking lot and restrooms along with plenty of picnic tables for visitors.

The location will be 270 Candi Lane in Columbia.

I hope you enjoyed our nature walk!

Thank you for stopping by! ~Val
