Just a little something quirky in the city of Columbia, SC.
It is known as the largest fire hydrant in the world.
No is it not an actual working fire hydrant. It stands almost 40 feet tall.
It was constructed by South Carolina artist Blue Sky and unveiled in 2001.
Why is it crooked? It was purposely designed this way to look like it had encountered something unpleasant, such as a truck hitting it.
That little person at the bottom is me to show the scale of this unique landmark.
Thank you for stopping by! ~Val

ReplyDeleteWeird! My first question was whether it was functional, but you answered that. I guess it could double as a water tower judging by its size!
