So I recently started to write out my bucket list. One thing I have always wanted to do was jump out of a plane. Why I have always wanted to do something so crazy is beyond me. When I received a Groupon e-mail for an $85 discount I knew this was now the time!
After signing many, many, many waivers and acknowledging that I could die from skydiving, my instructor, DJ suited me up and we headed to the plane.
I opted for a videographer to document this event so I have proof that I am nuts!
My video man, Ron, was making me laugh!!!
Try walking with another body attached to your back!!!
This is the moment when it really sunk in what I was actually doing!!! The ground was extremely far away. I can't believe there was actually a smile on my face at this moment of my life! I like to keep my blog clean so I will not mention what the voices in my head were saying.
They say if you wanted to know what it is like to fly, this is it!!!!
I love the wind blown look on my facial structure! I really did not enjoy this free fall at all but had to fake it for the camera. Breathing was tricky, plus it was extremely cold out and my face was numb!
We fell slowly to the ground which was still a very long way away! We spun around a few times which was nauseating! I had to ask my instructor not to do that again.
One of the happiest moments in my life was when the chute opened!!! The rest was a piece of cake!
Landing was easy! I was concerned because if my feet were too high or too low the landing may have been messy.
I am so happy to have crossed something off my list! Everything else after this will be a breeze!
that is something NOT on my bucket list! I think you are very brave!! ;-) I know if I HAD to jump, I would but figure if I dont have too, I will not. Ha ha My grown daughter wants to try it. I bet she will.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and thanks for stopping by mine recently, love to hear from you, and see what you are doing!!
OMG!!! Standing ovation for you and so brave...phew. I'm sweating thinking about it. I don't mind flying at all...inside an airplane! WOW!
ReplyDeleteWOW:) That's so brave of you. I was just watching Vertigo - Hichcock
ReplyDeleteyesterday night after a long time, and I could feel getting dizzy with Jimmy Steward at he was looking down the staircase.
I applaud you.
Dita.
oh my! You were so courageous! I don't think I can do that, I'm afraid of heights! But kudos for you to do it and I enjoyed reading about it on your blog :)
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies! I tend to be uncomfortable with heights but since this experience is so surreal, I didn't really notice it. It was very strange!!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly scary! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Val, part of me thinks it would be fun but part of me thinks no amount of dramamine would get me through it. Good for you girl!!!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That's an amazing start to your bucket list! Good for you. BTW: you have an amazing smile! Julee@Mommy's Memorandum
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Bravo for you Miss Val! Lots of courage I bet! Don't know if I could do that...I think I rather go on a hot air ballon ride!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you can take that off your list!
Thank you Julee!
ReplyDeleteKristi, it's strange but you don't get that rollercoaster feeling. I thought my heart would be in my throat but not at all. Thank God!!!
Claudia, a hot air balloon ride is also on my bucket list! When the opportunity presents itself I will be doing that as well!
You ARE crazy! And awesome, too. :D Not just anyone can claim they've jumped out of a plane and lived to tell about it. Did it feel as exhilarating as one would imagine? How long were you up in the air? Did it feel like forever, or did it seem to pass very quickly? The pictures showing the landscape below you are magnificent! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteYou are very brave...I on the other hand am not. Great post.
ReplyDeleteOh that is on my bucket list! I have been wanting to do this so bad!! You are brave!
ReplyDeleteyou're officially my hero. just like barbra said - i'm sweating thinking about it too...i did a bungee jumping once and i thought i left my stomach up in the air somewhere and therefore i admire anyone, who did a free fall that lasted more than 20 seconds. really, really admire! wonderful post and great pictures!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, I just had to add another WOW to the list. maybe two...
ReplyDeleteWOW!
jamberry, the experience was so bizzare that the only single words I can use to discribe it are unnatural and surreal!!! The free fall was 45 seconds so that went by quickly but with the chute it was about 8 minutes. The gliding down part was great!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh, henry, I would never bungee jump. I'm afraid the cord would snap! With skydiving I know there is a backup if the main chute does not open! LOL
Ufff... the photos only gave fear me...it is enough with seeing them to me...
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Buenos Aires...

OMG! Good for you! Not on my bucket list, but my step-daughter just did this, and she seemed to enjoy it. You are far, far, braver than I am! :) xo Pam
ReplyDeleteWow, you are so brave! I have a huge fear of heights and could never be brave enough to do it. Especially after watching my husband skydive. But, kuddos to you...it's awesome that you did it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed. The very idea is totally terrifying to me!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are very courageous. Way to go! Very captivating post and thanks for providing photos. I think it would be fascinating to see the world from a distance like that, but I don't think I'd be brave enough to jump out of the plane.
ReplyDeleteHey, you dare-devil you! You won Zador! Send me an email with your addy (look in my profile) and I will pack him off to you. :) Pam
ReplyDeleteOy! hat off, I have fear of heights and there is no way I'd do that. Remind me to never get into a bar fight with you. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my god! You're really brave!!My bucket list wouldn't include such an extreme activity :(
ReplyDeleteSometimes in life it is good to do something crazy - you did great, wooohooooo .... great pics too,
