This Week's Blog Post

Dolphin
Here is my latest Peruvian ceramic bead. A dolphin!
This lanyard is available at Miss Val’s Creations.
Mulch
The mulching is done for the year! 4 yards! Yes, mucho mulch. I went with a brown tone this year as my tastes are changing.
Jim helped and we actually got it all spread in 1.25 hours. When I do it by myself it basically takes me all day. Not fun!
Here is the side of my driveway which is all me! When I bought the house this was all weeds and no fence. It will have color throughout the warm season but none yet except for those forsythia at the end. As you can see, I need to buy a broom!
One of my rhododendrons is blooming!
My azalea is blooming. I do not care for this plant, but close up the flowers are neat!
My forsythia is almost all turned to green.
My redbud is blooming again!
Cardinal
This cardinal has been hanging out in my backyard. It looks like he is wearing a disguise with sunglasses and a big beard.

He is really tiny and it is my first time seeing a baby cardinal like this! It is so cute seeing a spot of red hoping through the grass (although my yard is more like a mess of weeds since I do not like chemicals or wasting water)!
Emmett
My sweet little Emmett. His eyes opened when I was annoying him with the camera again!
This poor little guy has the worst breath of any cat I have ever come across in my life!!! I found dental water at the pet store and it actually seems to be working! It is flavorless and odorless so my feline friends do not know they are cleaning their mouths while drinking!

Thank you for stopping by! Enjoy the beautiful season! ~Val

  1. Val, your description of the cardinal made me smile :) How lovely that you have a patch of garden to call your own! Gorgeous rhododendron! Awww...Emmett, so sweet. I have not heard of dental water before, interesting. Since Sammy is only allowed diet food he smells like that!
That dolphin bead is adorable! Have a great weekend :)

  3. My cat HRH has bad breath only when she eats fishy cat food. Pee-you! So long as I give her poultry or beef, all is fine. What does Emmett eat?

  12. Hi Val,

Love the lanyard, love the dolphin, especially cute.!!!! Your yard is really looking great, the fence and plants look so pretty. My azalea bush is just starting to burst open here, although I confess I have not noticed it as much this year. I think I'm doing too much running around to pay attention.

I love the way mulch makes the garden look and the colors that are available. It is however, a real drag to put down so I'm glad you had Jim along to help you. I hope you have a great week, enjoy the lovely spring weather.

  13. Ps Val, I love Emmett's photo, he is so cute. I guess it would be too much to hope for , him actually getting up to help with the mulching....probably so. I know my dogs never help me with anything, just sleep all day. LOL

I've actually had to start brushing their teeth (what a thrill) because of dental problems. I've noticed it has helped their breath. They of course get the yummy toothpaste (poultry flavored).

  14. I love that little dolphin! So cute ;o) You are good with your mulch ;o) I mulch off and on. Every other year? It all depends. I find under our large trees, is where I need it most! I don't know where it goes??? LOL! You have to get the broom I was talking about on my blog! Love the pictures of your garden and you made me laugh how you described your cardinal! Your cat is so cute, even with the bad breathe ;o) Hugs and take care ;o)

  18. Hi Valerie, Love your dolphin bead. So cute and your lanyard is beautiful. Your mulched garden looks so nice. I know it is a lot of work, but so worth it for the results like yours. Gorgeous flowers too. How cute is your sweet Emmett. The cardinal is so pretty against the green grass.
Thanks for stopping by and your kind comment.
    Have a great day.
    Hugs, Celestina Marie

  19. Your garden is looking glorious! That cute little bead adds such an element of fun to the lanyard. Do you clean Emmett's teeth regularly? Or had his gums checked by a vet? These things can contribute to bad breath.

  21. Hey,
I love the little dolphin bead, so cute. Bad kitty breath is really bad :/... I had three cats while I was staying with my in-laws in Pakistan, the bad breath isn't as bad as the sweaty stink they carry around. They need a bath every month...good ole' times.

  23. LOL! I never thought of kitties with bad breath. :-) The mulch looks great! I need to check into some areas around here to see who sales it by the load like that. I'm sure it's much more cost efficient.
