Custom Lanyards and Handmade Cards

Custom Lanyards
I had the honor of creating 2 lanyards for a woman who lost her husband. He was a pilot for an airline whose color was blue. This lanyard features the cutest airplane bead!
I will be adding an airplane lanyard to my line as well since it is perfect for an airline employee as well as someone who loves to travel.

He also lived by the sentiment "because nice matters". How great are those words? So this is the other one I made.
It feels wonderful to create items that will be cherished and have such meaning.

JSS Shepherd
My niece and nephew celebrate summer birthdays and I came across the sweetest sheep cards for them from JSS Shepherd on Etsy.

For her:
For him:

JSS Shepherd is full of cute cards like this one for Christmas:
This one for someone special:
This Halloween one:
This get well card:
A card for someone who inspires you:
I could go on and on! Stop by JSS Shepherd the next time you need an adorable greeting card for any occasion! If you sew, this shop also has a  selection of patterns and other goodies!
Alice
My little girl. She is so pretty.
Yes I still have my big pupil!!! After talking with a few people who have dealt with stuck pupils in the past and learning that they all went back to normal gives me some reassurance that I may look normal again in the future.

I am loving the new shape of my eyeballs! Yes, they are a new shape. It never occurred to me that they would be different. Having an astigmatism before meant that my eyeballs were football shaped, now they are baseball shaped! My eyelids sit better now. I thought they sagged before due to being almost 40. While this is one of those things that no one will notice but me, I feel great because it looks like I had an eye lift! Hehe!

Thank you for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your week. ~Val

  1. Those lanyards are a great tribute to the woman's late husband. I specially love the blue one.

Now you know I am not a cat person but Alice is pretty. I wonder if I don't like cats because I see the neighbor's cat roaming the street during the day like a stray cat? :/ Do you like dogs Miss Val? There you go free eye lift!

I did not know you had another cat! Alice is a sweetheart :)
The sheep cards are so fun!! Well that is reassuring that your pupil will eventually get back to normal. Sooner rather than later I hope! I have astigmatism, so my eyeballs are football shaped I guess ;-)
    take care,

  3. What a wonderful tribute these lanyards are, Val. I am sure she will treasure them.

What a neat effect from your surgery! I've never heard of this, but it surely makes sense.

Love these cards! Both my kids have July birthdays. Just 9 days apart.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

  6. Hey Val, just going out the door! Going away for a couple of days ;o) Those lanyards are so special and beautiful! Both to be treasured!!! I love the cards! Thanks for sharing them ;o)
Hi Alice ;o) Big Hugs ;o)
Eye lift! You are so cute! LOL! I remember last year, when I had the cyst removed from my head. The doctor had to cut down deep, to test for caner, which there was none. After he was done, he had to sew me up tight. So tight I could feel my face lift. He said I got a mini face lift for free! That was cool!!! I couldn't talk for a week, because the skin was so tight! Mom was happy! LOL!
Big Hugs and talk when I get back ;o)

  7. Those lanyards are so special! How great to get to create them for her :)
    Love the Ewe Rock card!
And Alice is so pretty :)
That's great news that others have reported that their pupils went back to normal over time. I had no idea that the surgery would change the shape of your eye, but it makes total sense. I have an astigmatism too and have to wear a weighted contact in that eye.
I accidentally put the wrong contact in the wrong eye the other day and wondered why I couldn't see very well...lol! Headslap!

  9. Hey Val,

Love the lanyards and of course, your very pretty girl Alice> :)

Glad your eyes are a lot better. I think when your pupil is good and ready it will go back to normal size. I bet it will surprise you and just be back to normal one day. Have a great weekend, hope you are doing something wonderful with Jim.

Hope you will enjoy the pics of the botanical garden here. Went yesterday and had a lot of fun, managed an hour and a half before the heat over took us, LOL but it was a nice afternoon.

    Have a good one.
