A Visit to The State Farmers Market

Luckily we live near the State Farmers Market (1 of 3 in the state).
This is the West Columbia site.
When we stopped by for the first time there was a flower show.
With some amazing wire garden art.
A variegated Japanese maple which I am in love with.
This cool plant with gorgeous varying greens.
Of course great yard furniture.
Handmade sweetgrass baskets, a crafting tradition in the lowlands of the state.
A long row of herbs. I had no idea there were so many variations of basil out there!
We are excited that they are open year round so we will be visiting regularly.

Many of the produce providers for the area have warehouses on site so we can get fresher goodies for a lot less than the grocery stores.

Thank you for stopping by! ~Val

  2. Great place to visit often! Wish we could find one here, so far the 2 we finally found were sad. After trying for big one on 2 different days we find a lone truck with 1 guy selling watermelons. He said they don't come to sell like they used to. 2nd was actually a store with spices, soup mixes, bread & muffin mixes, candies of all kinds, fresh breads, cheeses, lunch meats ... but no produce whatsoever & the prices were outrageous. Here I was also amazed at how many different kinds of spices out there. They had some lawn chairs, too. But your state market looks awesome!

  3. Oh, so many fantastic homemade and home grown products! We've got a few farmer's markets in the area and you totally make me want to visit them - I have to admit that I'm so bad about leaving the house.
