Downtown Lexington SC

We were driving through our new downtown on a Saturday and discovered something was going on so we stopped by to check it out.
An art walk! A treat to see local artisans' work. It was hot out so attendance looked low at the time.
The town has created this downtown space a couple of years ago to enrich the lives of its residents.
The dip in the landscape was used to build out an ampitheater for concert series, movies, beer festivals,  and more.
We spotted an inviting walkway behind the ampitheater so of course we walked it.
It lead to beautifully manicured grounds.
It turned out to be the Palmetto Collegiate Institute and Leonard L. Price Gardens. A lovely site that gets used for weddings and other functions.
I love the huge front porches with fans. Our new home has a small front porch but no ceiling fans (yet)!
Great nooks for photo ops.
And of course a gazebo.
I am wanting one of these plants we have been seeing a lot of lately! Its berry color is stunning.
Here we are among the big southern trees.
We are almost equal in our grayness!

I hope you enjoyed this glimpse of our downtown. We are having fun checking out its unique eateries as this town continues to grow!

Thank you for stopping by. ~Val

  2. Such a cute place. The berry plant you like is called Beauty Berry. we have quite a few of them ourselves. They seem to spread like wildfire. I think birds or bugs or something carry the berries off (or poop them out) and they pop up all over the place on the property. We've found them hard to get rid of. But, yes, that color is irresistible. I love when the berries start to change from green to purple and you get an ombre effect up the branch. So pretty!!
