Orchid Show

Here is a random collection of beauties seen at an orchid show at the Riverbanks Botanical Garden in Columbia, SC.
 

I hope you enjoyed these gorgeous bits of nature! They aren't the best photos as I did not have a fancy camera with me.

Currently there are about 28,000 known varieties of orchids. The diversity is truly amazing.

 We will certainly visit this annual event again next year!

    They are beauties indeed. Must have lifted your spirits to be immersed in them. Were they fragrant too?

      It was a treat. There was a lovely fragrance in the air but I did not want to get too close to any of the precious blooms since I can be clumsy at times!

    Oh Val, these are really beautiful. They look so delicate, yet there must be a certain strength to them to survive the climate. They're so graceful! Happy Weekend!

      Thank you Jeanie. I know it requires a special touch to care for orchids. We have not tried so yet in our home, but maybe someday we will take on the challenge!

    Oh those are gorgeous! I went to an orchid show not so long ago, but took so many photos I'm a bit intimidated to look at them all...

    I'm always amazed at the variety of orchids! Those pink/yellow ones are lovely. Thank you also for letting me know about the beautiful shrub in a previous post :) Our garden is getting a complete make-over and hopefully we can get this plant here.

    Oh my, aren't the orchids so gorgeous??!! I've had some of the years, but I just don't seem to have luck in growing them, after they've bloomed.

    They have some of the coolest looks. I don't have a lot of luck with orchids though but my mom did. She loved them.

    Orchids are such fascinating plants. They flowers are always so beautiful and delicate. I knew there were diverse, but I didn't know there are 20,000 of different varieties. That's really a lot. These flowers you showed are wonderful. Riverbanks Botanic Garden seems like a great place to visit.

    Some beautiful flowers here! I would have enjoyed this show too. There is an orchid park here in the north of the country. You have reminded me to go back - it's been a few years.
