The Botanical Gardens

I will be taking a blogging break.
I am feeling a little uninspired these days, understandably so.

I am thankful those I know and love are safe and healthy.
It is wonderful to visit the Riverbanks Botanical Gardens again.
We intend to stroll here every Sunday morning throughout the summer.
However I think there may  be another much needed shut down in our area.
This is a happy place for Jim and I.

Oh the pretty pink!

The huge bamboo teepees should be covered in vines by the end of fall which will be a treat to see.
Seeing so much color along with the variety of flowers and plants is always a mood lifter. We seem to discover something new with each visit.

I hope you are hanging in there ok too. My escapism has been music, books and movies. Movie apps and the ease of downloading books are also things I am very thankful for these days.

Thank you for stopping by! ~Val

  6. Your garden is so beautiful. I know, not YOURS but your happy place, which is nice because you get all the happy without all the weeds.

Michigan is having a huge up-tick too. I'm in hiding up at the lake, which is a good place to be. Quiet, pretty and relatively isolated. It can be hard to find things to blog about when you can't get out and do things but I hope you'll stop by to visit now and then! Meanwhile, enjoy summer.

    1. Thank you Jeanie. It is wonderful to enjoy a garden that you don't have to weed! Spending time at the lake sounds perfect right now. I hope more states start mandating masks so we can get through this pandemic sooner rather than later. Enjoy your summer too!

  8. I know what you mean. 2020 has been beyond overwhelming. And blogging much like magazines is super challenged. First people stopped reading/looking at magazines. Now they are not really reading or going to blogs anymore. It is all social media now. Mainly IG & YT. I am focusing more now on my YT channel. At least with YT there is more real engagement, it is nice to drop in on peoples lives. And you can learn almost anything. Though I do have issues with Google. IG is like eating too much candy and all you get is empty calories and a stomachache.

I recently got an newsletter from Garance Dore and she is going to move to a paid subscription format. Which means you can not access her site unless you are a member. I believe she is doing this because even though her site is brilliant I am sure readership has dropped off considerably as people are just not going to newsy/blogsy style websites anymore for content. And unless you are actively reading and engaging with other bloggers it will eventually drop off. She did not do a lot of YT and videos but focused on content being read and consumed on her site and I think this is why it fell off.

A sad to state of affairs to be sure. With all our other problems technology and the world are moving way too fast.

    1. Social media is constantly changing. It is difficult to keep up with and remain engaging. Youtube would be great for my business as tutorials can be very helpful. Finding the time is a challenge right now. Maybe it will slow down as spending decreases this year and I can give it a try.

  20. Val, I hope you and your hubby are doing well! I'm sorry I missed you last year! In August, I was in hospital twice. Found out it was my gualbladder! Haven't had the operation, yet! Trying to get as healthy as I can, because of covid! They want me in and out of the hospital, as fast as possible. Hopefully, I don't get another attack, or the operation, will have to happen right away! But, enough about me! I'm smiling and keeping going! Lots of healing I'm doing on the inside and out! I wish you many blessings for 2021!!! Take care my friend! Big Hugs!

  21. Choosing the scenic way through life is an extraordinary decision that can significantly impact our trip. In a world that frequently prioritises speed and efficiency, choosing a slower, more deliberate approach allows us to appreciate the beauty and richness that surrounds us.
