We have been to the Congaree National Park once before but it was during autumn with a lot less green. So back we went for this enjoyable boardwalk stroll.
The 2.4 mile boardwalk loop is perfect for walking through an area we would otherwise not be able to access.
It is quite swampy! Technically speaking, this is a floodplain so there are many days throughout the year when the boardwalks are closed.
The cypress knees are proudly standing up.
Some of the boardwalks are low so you can get really close so some stunning trees and knees.
The serpent looking trunks can be creepy looking.
Being one of the tallest deciduous forests in the world, you must look up!
The average canopy height throughout is 100 feet!
The dwarf palmettos look like they are greeting passers by. I feel like we are supposed to wave at them.
We didn't see much wildlife but the lizards were out having fun.
I love seeing the odd formations that I have never seen anywhere else.
