Vermont Pancake and Leaf Peeping

My friend Melissa and I headed to Vermont a couple of weekends ago for pancakes and leaf peeping. This was only my second time to VT, my first time being a trip several years ago to Ben & Jerry’s!

This darling place named Farmer’s Diner is in Quechee. There was an article on Yahoo with the top 10 pancakes in the United States and this was one of them! They were so delicious, especially with the VT maple syrup!

We took a ride to Quechee Gorge where Ottauquechee River runs 165 feet below Route 4. This is Vermont’s deepest gorge formed approximately 13,000 years ago by glaciers. It was beautiful, but being used to the amazing gorges in NH, it does not compare. Sorry VT!

We took a ride through picturesque Woodstock which has to be one of the cutest little towns in America! The buildings were perfect, people were mulling about and the foliage was just right! We spent the rest of the day driving around the area taking in the beautiful views.

We drove over this scary old covered bridge in Taftsville from 1836 and survived!

In addition to eating pancakes we indulged in cheese tastings at Sugarbush Farm and later in the day at a Cabot store in Quechee Gorge Village. We also engaged in red wine tasting of local wines from Snow Farm Vineyard. Lastly, we ended the day with local homemade ice cream. Mmmm! I went with my all time favorite, mint chocolate chip!

Just had to add this picture! Yes, there was a zebra roaming about in someone’s front yard. Melissa was able to walk right up to it! Amazing and bizarre! This was a good reason to trespass.

It was a perfect Fall day!

  6. Thank you everyone!

Mallory, the zebra appeared to be a pet! He was grazing with a miniature horse and a donkey. It was quite amusing and amazing since zebras don't have the best reputation!
