I am really enjoying my latest inheritance, this antique chair.
It had belonged to my great aunt and then to my grandparents.
Grandpa just passed at age 101 after a long happy, healthy life.
The chair has wonderful details and is in amazing condition.
Even the bottom of the legs have a cutout.
It would be great to have the wood refinished but I also love the look of wear showing its age.
This would be a fun piece to bring to Antique Roadshow!
I hope you have enjoyed viewing this relic of the past. Thank you for stopping by! ~Val
What a beauty this is, Val, and how fortunate you are to have it.
ReplyDeleteThink of all the wonderful memories this chair holds, and each time you see it, it will remind you of your Grandfather.
I agree -- Antiques Roadshow would love that chair!
ReplyDeleteha! I was thinking about those guys on the Antique Roadshow who always tell people 'if only you hadn't tried to clean the wood .... it would be worth more!' it is a lovely chair!

Love this chair Val! Just thinking, if it could talk, what stories it would tell you! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to receive such a gift as this chair! If it had eyes and ears, think of the stories it could tell. When I look at it I think of a parent or grandparent sitting there with a little one and reading a book. Since it's a family heirloom, I wouldn't refinish it. It's beautiful the way it is, and has obviously been cared for. It's beautiful! And 101 years old! Imagine what he has seen in his lifetime!
ReplyDeletelove this. I love vintage things , and am a great collector.
