The Old Mill Brewpub in located in our downtown of Lexington, SC.
As you may have guessed, it is in an old mill that has been around since the late 1890s as a cotton mill.
With great rustic finishes.
It offers comfortable, casual dining.
Local artwork is on display and available for purchase.
The bar is super charming being a building within a building. A bottle of water is provided when you sit down.
When at pub restaurants, we order a flight of beer so we don't have to decide on one.

The cookies and cream milk stout was my favorite! We both really enjoyed the 12 mile oatmeal porter and the Lone Rider ale as well.
For lunch I always order the Farmer's Daily. A wrap with grilled portobello mushrooms, tomatoes, carrots, red pepper hummus, cucumbers and baby spinach tossed in a poppy seed vinaigrette. They have some of the best fries around here, spiced perfectly.
Jim indulged in the Brisket Melt with horseradish chive white cheddar, caramelized onion, hopped mayo on an onion roll. The sweet potato fries are embellished with cinnamon.
I hope you enjoyed this look at the local brewpub. Definitely recommended if coming to town. Prices are very reasonable.

Lake Murray is a 50,000 acre lake with shoreline in our town.
It shoreline is approximately 500 miles.
There are places to hangout and picnic.
You can also bring your boat, kayak and more to set out onto the lake.
The lake is fed by the Saluda River. It began providing hydroelectric power to the area back in 1920. Its dam (Dreher Shoals Dam) was completed in 1930 and at the time was the largest man made reservoir in the world.
What is great here is that a dam walk was built for residents to enjoy. There are always people walking or jogging across the bridge.
The length is 1.7 miles (3.4 miles round trip).
We only walked this once during the winter. Not our cup of tea. Why? It is very loud as you are walking along with the traffic on the bridge. We also did not care for breathing in auto fumes or that there is no shelter from the sun.
However others enjoy it. It is smooth, safe and has a great view of the lake. On a beautiful day you can gaze out at sailboats, water skiers, fishing boats and more.
The city of Columbia is visible on the traffic side as it is 11 miles away.
It is not Paris, but there is a love lock fence. It is typically very windy here from our experience as you can see from my wild hair. Our little vintage heart lock was an ebay find.
We have one of the smallest locks and below is the largest here.
I wanted one of these rusty vintage hearts in the center below but they are expensive to score online.
I am not sure why this symbol of South Carolina is in the shape of Texas. There must be a story behind this one.
This one below appears to be a tribute to a loved one.

Parking is free for walkers on the Lexington side in the small lot by the love lock fence.
There is a park next to this lot with a $3 per car fee for locals. Here you can enjoy the beach, swim and picnic.
The other end of the bridge (Irmo side) has boat launches and fishing docks. Parking is $3 on this side as well.

Peachtree Rock Heritage Preserve is a beautiful nature hike in the woods. The star, Peachtree Rock, used to look like this.
This site was under the Atlantic Ocean a very long time ago. As the water receded it eroded the bottom layers of the sandstone quicker than the rest, creating an inverted pyramid.
Its toppling occurred in 2013 and it now looks like this.
Not too fascinating.
Regardless the ocean has left behind many other marvels for the nature lover to enjoy.
We were here on a perfect, super sunny fall day (just getting around to blogging this now).
This park is 460 acres.
A small waterfall is hidden in here giving off glorious audio.
A sweet creek meanders from it.
This bit of water below looks like it is coming out of nowhere!
It was great exercise and relaxing for the brain to spend time here.
Nature has created some amazing formations with gorgeous color tones.
A fascinating site thinking that this was once under the ocean and is now approximately 125 miles inland.

We discovered Gibson Park in Lexington, SC which is only 5 minutes from our house.
It features a concrete walkway that meanders through the woods and just keeps going on and on!
A peaceful walk to enjoy nature.
Just perfect.
I have never seen mushrooms with this iridescent like color until now.
Gibson pond used to be here. It is now covered with flowing green stuff.
Swinging benches that used to overlook the pond.
There are darling flowers here and there.
Where did the pond go? This dam broke. The damage resulted in the disappearance of the pond.
Rushing water remains producing soothing sounds.
There is a lovely overlook to enjoy it.
These fluffy things are prevalent down here, not just wild, but also as a landscaping feature (which we are hoping to do with them).
We will be regulars here since it is so close and peaceful.
