Hunting Island State Park

Hunting Island State Park is on the coast of South Carolina.
This amazing beach has the look of a deserted island.
It is breathtaking. The beauty is bittersweet since the coastline is eroding at an incredible rate of 15 - 20 feet each year.
We also learned that 40 feet of beach was lost in one hurricane alone.
The park features 5 miles of beach, thousands of acres of marsh and maritime forest as well as a saltwater lagoon.
Since it was very hot and humid, we only enjoyed the beach but intend to go back at a cooler time of the year to explore more.
When you look down you notice things like the sand moving and discover it to actually be a very camouflaged crab.
Of course there is driftwood and shells lying about.
The tree trunks left behind are true works of art by Mother Nature's hand.
It was super windy here bringing relief to the heat!
The end of September is off season so we basically had this stunning place to ourselves.
The lighthouse, built in 1873, allows one to enjoy views from 130 feet. This is for next time since it was too hot for us that day.
We did peak inside.
This island is a must see if you are ever in the area. It is easy to get to from beautiful Beaufort.

If you go, the beach is located at:
1775 Sea Island Pkwy, St. Helena, SC
Open daily from 6am - 6pm

Thank you for stopping by! ~Val

This Week's Blog Post

I am posting a day early this week to spend some extra quality time with my man. The weather does not look the greatest but it will not stop us from having a good time! The ebay shop will reopen Saturday evening since packages would not be able to ship until Monday anyway.

Smokey Quartz
Smokey quartz is a gorgeous brown that can vary from light to dark in color.
These beads are mostly dark with the exception of the rondelles. This is a heavy statement piece available at Miss Val’s Creations.
A Ride up The Coast

Jim and I took a ride along the coast on a gorgeous Sunday.
This beach stop was super rocky.  I believe this was in New Hampshire, but could have been Maine.
Talk about difficult to walk on!
People stack rocks here (I have no idea if there is a meaning behind this but it looks cool).

Fair Ride on Wheels
This was just funny. See that odd thing by the toll booth?
Jim and I were on the highway one afternoon and this is what we drove by.
Jim had to catch up to it so I could get pictures!

It was my first time ever seeing a carnival ride being transported! It looks really out of place amongst all the normal vehicles around!
It made for a good laugh!!!

Thank you for stopping by! I wish you all a great week ahead! ~Val

This Week's Blog Post

Custom Order
My customer requested pink crystal jewelry and here is the result!
Custom orders typically get me out of my box and this was no exception. I am an earthy stones kind of gal but I do get giddy when working with Swarovski crystals. There is something about a woman and sparkly things!!!
Monkey Moments & Giveaway!!!
My Mother’s Day and Father’s Day shopping brought me to Monkey Moments on Etsy! Sock monkeys are put into human poses to create funny pictures.

Here is mom’s (she always prefers a bath over a shower):
Here is dad’s (with the remote watching PBS or History or Science channel):
The story behind these creations is one sister starting these photos to make her sister laugh. It was too fun for them to not pursue a business in this!
There are a variety of occasions in the card selection like this one for a teacher!

Or this card for love!
Now for a Monkey Moments giveaway! The lucky winner will receive this very fun Wizard of Oz magnet (I could not take the picture without a little glare on it)! It is a large 4” x 5.5”!!!  It is sure to bring a lot of laughs! I have one on my fridge which has me smiling each day!
To enter simply leave a comment on this post that you are a Wizard of Oz fan! If you have an Oz memory, share it.
I was always horrified by those flying monkeys, much more so than the wicked witch! The film still amazes me today how far ahead of its time the production was. My friend and I had toured the studio where this was filmed and apparently the Yellow Brick Road is still there under the current flooring. So I guess we sort of walked on the Yellow Brick Road!
The drawing will occur Sunday July 1 by Jim pulling the lucky winner out of a hat. I will announce the winner on that Saturday July 7 post!!!  Good luck!
The Beach
Jim and I took a ride up the coast to the beach (Atlantic Ocean). It was perfect.
We saw everything you expect to see on the beach like seaweed.
Driftwood.
Seagulls.
A piece of blue lobster.
Kites. See the cat one?
I just love how the water glistens from the sun! I can not believe I am showing my feet! Inheritance brought me painful bunions so my feet are a little deformed!
It feels like you can see forever looking out at the ocean!
I hope you all have a wonderful summer week ahead! ~Val
